If running corrupted platemail, you'll want a mix of spell/ability rings, if warped paradigm, purely ability rings. As for melee weapon, you can either run the frying pan legendary for added tankiness, or the mage staff legendary which does a ranged sunder effect on melee attack that can hit 3 enemies, and reduces spell cooldowns by 5% per enemy hit.

I have a corrupted platemail that gives +2 to contagion (haven’t got a +3 yet) and the dots just SHRED. It’s janky, it’s fun and it does quite a bit of damage.
Primary and secondary classes are not fixed on legendary armor. I have 3 "Corrupted Platemail", one with Spellshot (Primary) & Graveborn (Secondary), one with Spore Warden (P) & Graveborn (S), and another with Brr-zerker (P) & Clawbringer (S). It looks like all armor can roll with any class combination.
